My Sister's Boyfriend...

...Struck Gold.

Movie trailer gold! Why has this gone unheard and unseen for so long? Matthew McConaughey is cool, but not "the only non-midget in the family" cool. Sorry, "the only non-dwarf in the family" cool. And Gary Oldman in "The Role of A Lifetime?"

The Thorn in the Heart (Trailer)

Michel Gondry has an uncanny ability to pull me into his "Mindbending Journeys". Gondry unleashes what looks to be yet another cinematic treat this time using his family as the background. "The Thorn In The Heart" premiered at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and is hopefully getting wider distribution in summer 2010.

Get Him To The Greek (Trailer)

"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" might be one of the most quotable movies of the past five or ten years. This summer two more hours of quotable content will be in a theatre near you.

Doing nothing as your full-time occupation IS brave. Thank you Jennifer Jason Leigh.

"Big Dog" (Trailer)

Finally! Pizza: The Motion Picture. This premise seems so whacked it may actually work. What I found intriguing about this trailer was that FunnyOrDie has become a movie studio of sorts. The tagline "coming soon to an internet near you" is both parts chuckle worthy and revolutionary.

Wristcutters: A Love Story (Trailer)

Super late pass on this one. Released almost two years ago, a friend of mine gave me this movie this summer. I only got around to watching it this weekend. Though it seems bleak and depressing "Wristcutters" leaves you feeling warm and re-energized. Don't let the title scare you away, it has little to do with the content of the movie. Witty, hip and downright hilarious I didn't want it to end. True escapism in film.

Dead Snow (Trailer)

Keeping up with my Halloween themed posts here is the trailer for "Dead Snow". A movie in the vein of "Shaun of the Dead" and "Zombieland", it's creators amp up the old zombie scenario with a new twist. The zombies are also Nazis! Could there be any group more feared and loathed?Unlike their predecessors these guys will kill anyone, not just a selected religious group.

Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee (Trailer)

The mockumentary genre may be my favourite type of film. Their characters draw me in. Their quirks make me snicker. And I constantly find myself connecting with and rooting for their protagonists. Who wouldn't root for Scor-Zay-Zee with his T.O. 49ers jersey?

A Micheal Cera vehicle where the premise is awkwardness. No way!

SHEITAN Trailer

Released in 2006, "SHEITAN" revolves around a group of friends who end up spending Christmas Eve at the country house of a girl they meet at a bar. Once they get there, things get weird, like "groundskeeper-who-makes-love-to-his-sister-and-wants-your-eyes" weird. Through all this director Kim Chapiron brings humour and makes a statement about old and new ideologies in France. I hadn't seen a good horror film in a while, but "SHEITAN" gave me new confidence in the genre.

Explicit Ills Trailer

When this trailer opened with a childs version of Lawrence Fishburne's gentrification speech in "Boyz N The Hood" I knew this move had potential. Then I saw Black Thought (Tariq Trotter) and proceeded to glue my eyes to the screen. "Explicit Ills" offers audiences a view into an all too real world that lays within our grasp. Actress Rosario Dawson always shines in these gritty roles, so I have high hopes for this film. Though this movie is in limited release currrently, you'll probably be able to find it in Blockbuster in the coming months.

Batman Vs Willy Wonka

Recently my friend Pete Dubs put me on to the trailer for "Public Enemies" and I was instantly intrigued. Based on the book by Bryan Burrough, by the same name, "Public Enemies" has already become a frontrunner for this years summer theatre filler. Could this be a prelude to the highly rumoured addition of Depp as The Riddler to the Christopher Nolan directed Batman franchise? Or simply the pipe dream of a basement dwelling comic nerd?

Funny People Trailer

As you may have guessed, I have a little man-crush on Seth Rogen and am not scared to show it. It seems to me that this movie is a case where art is imitating life. Both in the movie and real life Adam Sandler is passing the torch to Rogen, Hollywood's new leading comedic man. Boasting an all-star cast (Eric Bana, Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman to name a few) this dramedy will be in theaters on July 31st.

Observe & Report Trailer

I guess this year's "it" movie genre is security-guard-comedies. I never went and saw "Paul Blart" but that's mainly because I don't enjoy Kevin James' brand of comedy. I do enjoy Seth Rogen and Ray Liotta though. Asian twins, an Aziz Ansari (former ZachMorrisism That Guy...) cameo and the somewhat serious turn the plot seems to take are all highlights of this well put together trailer. "Observe & Report" is slated to hit theatres on April 10th.

Skill Like This Trailer

I'm not quite sold on this film yet, the acting and quality seems made for tv-ish. But it poses a cool question; what if you best skill was robbery? This dark dramedy wowed the audiences at SXSW las year and I'm hoping it's national release includes some Canadian theatres.

Adventureland Trailer.

This trailer makes me wish that Bill Hader was my boss. Looks to me that Ryan Reynolds is picking up where he left off in "Waiting".

I Am King Mini-Movie-Puff Daddy, P.Diddy, Diddy,Poppa Diddy Pop

Is he for cereal? This "mini-movie" is for a new fragrance he's shucking called "King". Kinda plays like a infomercial. I'm definitely picturing him as an action star though. It's a wonder he doesn't play himself in the new Notorious biopic.
