Auto-Tune Baby...

...you are my new favorite artist.

Bathroom Sex?

As you may know, Ninjasonik are ZachMorrisism approved. Now you too can follow them and learn more about their music at their new blog "BATHROOMSEXXX".  "BATHROOMSEXXX" also contains more kick-ass wooden four-finger rings and a Matt and Kim mashup. But be careful, if your not hardcore this site may shock and offend your senses.

High Notes

Have you ever been listening to music and wished that you were high? What if the music you were listening to made you high? I-Doser claims to do just this, offering a product that creates "a simulated mood or experience" using  "proven, scientific, and safe methods of synchronizing your brainwaves." On their online store they offer products like hash, sleep and sexual aids to the harsher LSD, crystal meth and cocaine. Though I don't see myself listening to some heroine anytime soon, I do enjoy listening to a hot joint. Literally.

Batcave < Man Cave

A friend and I were watching "Snoop Dogg's Father Hood" last night and I heard a new term that excited me, "Man Cave". A Man Cave or Manctuary is a male sanctuary such as a specially equipped garage, spare bedroom, media room, den or basement according to Wikipedia. I then began to search the internet for these man caves. Seeing sports themed rooms, home theatres, and decadent bars I started to think that these sanctuaries were lacking real creativity. Then I stumbled across Cary Ross' man cave which has walls adorned with climbing apparatus and still features wrap around leather sofas and a mini movie theatre. Check out more man caves at the official site.

A Tribe Called Quest - Electric Relaxation (Video)

Got so much done this weekend, time for some (electric) relaxation.

Triumvir Drop At C-apsule

Entitled "Civil Wars Collection", the Triumvir 2009 Spring collection takes influence from fallen kingdoms and rulers. My personal favourite is "The Dead Caesars" shirt seen bellow. An obvious play on The Dead Kennedys logos, it gets away with it without being cliche. This half of the product drop is made up of mostly tee's and hats, but you can see the "Cut N Sewn" half at the C-apsule blog.

For Us, By Us (No FUBU Reference Implied)

If there was one thing I had to say I loved about the internet, it would be the amount of personalized content people are putting out. Everyone has there own unique preferences and niches that they fit into. Here are two blogs, that I follow, that exemplify this ideal;

Fresher than a stick of Lady Speedstick, Mad Cultured could teach the lamest lame about being a dope intelectual. The self-proclaimed "Salt-N-Pepa Of The Suburbs" these ladies cover everything while giving their own humorous twist. The layout of the blog has changed over the past few weeks and now features kitties, unicorns, hotdogs and hamburgers. All my favourite things in one place, could this be heaven?

I actually met the author of this blog in my first year of university and we hit it off instantaneously. We both listened the same music, watched the same movies and tv shows and even dressed somewhat similar. W.Mitchell(ism) is truly my brother from another mother. Now that he blogs, we still stay in touch and are able to share our likes and dis-likes in a futuristic inter-nerdy way. wmitchellism covers the world of pop culture while adding a very personal twist, often using anecdotes from his day-to-day life.

Kelly KaPOWski (Vol.3)

It's Saturday night once again. Please enjoy your Kelly Kapowski and alcohol, I guess, responsibly.

Earth Hour 2009

Do it. Do it. Do it.

Saturday Mourning

What happened to Saturday morning cartoons? When I was a kid cartoons were much different. They were full of wholesome messages, mind boggling premises and blatant branding. Now they've changed into programs with titles I can't even begin to pronounce. Full of Dragon Ball-esque hairdos and anime styled animation, I just don't get them. Why can't we go back to "Pro-Stars"? MJ, The Gretz and Bo were a trio I could look up to.

Shad - I Don't Really Like To (Video)

I was doing homework when this tune by, in my opinion, the premiere Canadian MC came on. Shad has intellectual lyrics that dont come off condescending or try and go over your head. If you haven't heard his album "The Old Prince" go out and buy it. Two copies even, one for you and one for future generations.

Why I Love The Hundreds

Saw these upcoming t-shirts on The Hundreds blog earlier and just had to post them. The theme behind them reminds me of clips from "Dogtown and Z-Boys", which funnily enough I caught on IFC yesterday. Actually, Thrilla Gorilla is a character designed by surf-wear guru Steve Nazar who is responsible for hundreds of designs for both Big Dog and T&C clothing. I love how The Hundreds always pay tribute to the rich sub-cultures of California. Both of these tee's are part of their Summer 2009 line.

A Matter Of Time

Downtime hasn't been something I've had an abundance of this week. I hope to toss some updates on the blog over the next few days.

Night Of The Living Fitteds

As mentioned previously, numerous times, I have a severe hat addiction. I was wearing one of favourite hats one night and had the brilliant idea to begin yelling out a friends car window. Like the shopping bag in "American Beauty" my hat immediately glided through the air before finding a resting place on the road. "Stop the car! I lost my hat! Turn around! I need my hat!" I exclaimed in a manor fitting a junkie who had just lost his favourite syringe. As we turned around the lights of another car blinded me and then, in what seemed like slow motion, ran over my hat. It's "just bought" freshness gone and replaced with a more rounded, wrinkled appearance. As if they had watched all this unfold, New Era came out with a product to revive my once crisp fitteds. The "Re-Cap" cleaning and shaping kit allows caps never to get old like the old people in "Cocoon" and is a must for all true addicts like myself. Hopefully zombie-fying my caps won't end in a post-apocalyptic suburbia.

Black Skeptik featuring KRS ONE - RENT (Video)

Who hasn't had a lower life form as their landlord? This ode to these scumbags, by Black Skeptik and KRS ONE, speaks for hundreds of thousands of tenants that have been mistreated and made to feel helpless. While murder and terrorism may not be the route I would take, it makes for good music. Haven't heard much from Black Skeptik before this but after checking out his MySpace I'm definitely feeling his perplexing style and tounge twisting lyrics (check out "Keep Quiet"). And well KRS ONE is a god among mortal MCs. I love how he can use "duly elected" and still sound hard.

Q-FEEL - Dancing in Heaven (Video)

Why is it that I can't stop laughing and loving this song? It looks like something that, the bane of my of existence, MADTV would put out. The lead singers weaselly appearance makes the background singers wearing those ridiculous headsets almost invisible. Shout out to the air traffic controller background dancers, hit me up with your futuristic mind-phone numbers.

Outkast Feat. Killer Mike - The Whole World (Video)

"This is the way you walk on a sunny day, when it's raining inside and your all alone."

RE: Name That Mixtape

Chester French went with "Jacques Jams, Vol. 1 : Endurance". A funny play on an album, "Jock Jams", that made up the majority of my previously mentioned middle school dances. With the announcement of the title also came the roster of artists featured on this new mixtape. Bun B, Talib Kweli, Janelle Monae, Pharrell headline a list that could go on for days. "Jacques Jams, Vol. 1 : Endurance" is witty but not one of the title's I came up with. Begin sulking.

Civil Unrest

Civil Clothing is another brand coming out of L.A. that brings their own unique flare to an already "saturated streetwear market" (Mr. Remple). With elements from all over the subculture spectrum they offer customers a product unlike anything else. While other brands rely heavily on playing on rehashed ideas and stereotypical designs, Civil Clothing has consistently brought new ides to the table. I wish I could tell you more about Civil but under the "about" section on their website there is only a picture. Very uncivil of them.

Innovative Indian

For all the thousands of restaurants that have walls plastered with meaningless signs, pop culture icons, and animal heads there are the few who swim against the current. Working with design firm outline, Bangalore Express has created a restaurant that resembles a neo version of the Swiss Family Robinson's tree mansion. Featuring a section of two-tier booth seating and furniture made of fastclamp, usually used in scaffolding, the aesthetic alone brings in hundreds of customers in daily. Located in London, England Bangalore Express offers "Freshly prepared, clean, fragrant cooking that is wholesome, nutritious and above all tasty. An easy to understand, approachable, menu. " Next time your across the pond grab some dosas and tandoori while checking out the intricate design work.

Name That Mixtape

Star Trak's Chester French will be releasing their debut album "Love The Future" on April 21st but before that comes the mixtape. Produced by ultra-producer/dj/television personality Clinton Sparks, this mixtape will give all those who haven't caught "Chester-fever" a taste of what this duo has to offer. When coming up with a name for this new project they were stumped and did what any person with a Harvard education would do, they turned to the internet public. After tons of suggestions D.A. , one half of Chester French, announced that the name of the mixtape would be revealed Monday. Two of the suggestions I had were "From Harvard To Hollywood"  and "National Lampoon's (Chester) French Vacation", with luck maybe they will choose one of mine.

Jessie Span-Oh Snap!

I'm doing homework on a Friday night, so I didn't feel another "Kelly KaPOWski" was appropriate. Enjoy a more conservative Ms. Spano.

Restraint by Peter Wilson (Pete Dubs)

"Restraint" is a film project put together by my friend Pete, who is currently attending Queens University. "Restraint" revolves around two drunken university students who wake up handcuffed to each other and are at a loss on how to release themselves. Much like many Canadian comedy films the comedy is both real and unabashed. Well acted by Tim Mackay and Eric Gagne, "Restraint" will have you and yours in uproarious laughter.

Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone (Video)

(Notice: In no way is this post saying this is a ZachMorrisism quality video. It is solely being used to reminisce upon a certain time in my life.)

For the longest time in middle school my friends and I would spend our Friday nights at dances held at the local community centres. Going out on Friday night, being away from our parents, socializing with girls from other schools, slow dances. When "Better Off Alone" came on these dances would go off. Hundreds of cola-fueled, jumping teens singing along. The odd "glowstick-kid" doing his thing. Nowadays the electricity that these nights created has been replaced with a drunken haze, highlighted by run ins with those same middle school friends. Do I miss those adolescent nights? Yes. Do I want to go back to them? Never.

Wale Week: Day 5

With the announcement of his album and tour title, the release of a t-shirt and his new single, Wale Week has been quite exciting. I can't wait to see what 2009 brings for Wale, one thing I know for sure is that I will be attending his show April 26th at The Mod Club in Toronto. I'm especially excited after listening to "Chillin", which is instantaneously addictive and a step above the earlier leaked version.  A radio rip of "Chillin" featuring Lady GaGa (cringe) is available on The Elitaste right now and will be available on i-Tunes next week.
