NYC In-Store BBC/Ice Cream Exclusive

I remember the first time I saw a real Billionaire Boys Club sweater at Goodfoot, I was so enamoured with it. Once again I have that feeling about a sweater. The "Heart & Mind Hoodie" is BBC's first in-store exclusive, a move reminiscent of Bape. With it's unadorned styling and design BBC takes a big step away from their classic all over print hoodies. I foresee a long line-up at their NYC location for this one.

Japanese Splendor

N.Hollywood, a high fashion brand from Tokyo, recently released their 2009 Spring/Summer line based on Harvey Pekar's comic book series "American Splendor". Using elements of his conversations, the art and themes from "American Splendor" N.Hollywood comes out with a product which is insightful and witty. My personal favorite "Awake To The Terror..." (bellow) encapsulates my life perfectly. Thank you N.Hollywood, finally someone makes a  humorous t-shirt that says something more than "I Like Boobs/Beer/ETC...".

The Cure - Friday I'm In Love (Video)

Today is the Friday before reading week begins. All assignments have been handed in, and my cold is fading. A wave of elation has passed over my body leaving me with a lesser seen semi-smile, a change from my usually morose demeanor.

"It's Friday I'm In Love"

Capitalize On Controversy

Usually the world of celebrity gossip makes me nauseous. Today; it made me chuckle.

Meet George Jetsetter, His Boy Elroy...

Since the invention of the spork there hasn't been a two-in-one package better than this gem. Dope Couture's "The Jetsetters" is both their spring line and a mixtape produced by the renowned DJ Benzi (Kanye West's "Sky High", 10Deep's "The New Deal", and an upcoming project with Mike Posner "A Matter Of Time"). The line works with a great colour palette and updates one of my favorite classic cartoons. The mixtape has a plethora of up-and-coming hip hop acts and some crazy collabos, including my personal favorite "Loungin" with Skooda, Twista and, one half of The Cool Kids, Mikey Rocks. Check out the line at Dope Couture's Blog and stream (and eventually download) the mixtape here.

Clipse X Rick Rubin

In the words of the legendary Ice Cube; "Today was a good day".  According to reps at Columbia Records, Über-producer Rick Rubin and elegantly spoken cocaine spokesmen The Clipse have hooked up for three tracks on their next album "Til' The Casket Drops". The force behind dozens of epic albums will definitely push the Clipse further and make this new disc an instant classic. Watch out for the first single off their album entitled "Kinda Like A Big Deal" featuring Kanye West dropping March 9th.

ARRRGH: The Feeling Of Frustration

When I'm sick, I'm useless. I loathe useless people, especially the elderly. Recently I have been battling with a head-cold who's persistence is admirable but aggravating. It has made me feel less intelligent, attractive and even unhygienic. Once I recover I'm hoping to acquire a giant bubble to live in. Enter the hamster.

Swiss Luxury Watches < Swiss Luxury Planes

Let the "First-Class Revolution" begin! Swiss Air's new first class suite is just that, sweet. Composed of a bed, flat-screen TV, and partition to maintain privacy this whole package must come with a price tag too big for a world plagued with economic troubles. Cost aside, I'd love to cruise the skies in one of these suites. Anyone have some spare Air Miles?

I Can't Feel My Fake

Talk about multi-tasking. Not only did KAWS open up his art exhibit "The Long Way Home" last weekend, but he also curated a show at Royal/T. Entitled "I Can't Feel My Face" the exhibition showcased both works his and pieces by a long list of others (Olaf Breuning, Carol Dunham, Andre Ethier, Tom Friedman, Misaki Kawai, Hideaki Kawashima, Mike Kelley, Ted Mineo, Takashi Murakami, Mr., Yoshimoto Nara, Oliver Payne & Nick Relph, Richard Prince, William Sasnal, David Shrigley, Jim Torok and Yan Pei-Ming). Inside the show an Original Fake store was set-up and they were selling these commemorative t-shirts, which are now available at colette.

Where's Waldo?

When free time came around in elementary school I would bolt to the Where's Waldo? books. When XV drops "Everybody's Nobody" I will bolt to download it. Enlisting the help of Rhymefest, Big Sean, 9th Wonder this mixtape may finally skyrocket XV's career to the next level. Watch out for "Everybody's Nobody" in March but in the meantime try and find as many people with green backpacks on the cover.

Generic Hat Post # 2

ECap City = A Crack House. Some images from the new drop of fitteds over at ECap have got me giddy once again. The Islanders in an Oakland Athletics type colour scheme, L.A. Angels in a tan-brown theme which I don't usually like, the Colorado Avalanche resembling Gucci and Houston Astros in Jordan Aqua 8 colors. All of these fitted hats make me yearn for a genie, preferably not voiced by Robin Williams.

Generic Hat Post # 1

Coat of Arms bring deadstock back to life. This snap-back "Boyz N The Hood" promotional hat is one of those accessories that makes us true streetwear junkies salivate uncontrollably. Rocking one of these can boost your street cred in seconds because who doesn't like "Boyz N The Hood"? Maybe Clint Eastwood, but thats a whole other story.

Sexy Scandinavians

I'm not one to but Maxim, King, FHM or any magazine in that category. No, the sight of a beautiful woman, scantily clad and rolling in the sand of some exotic occasion isn't one I find offensive or not pleasurable, it's just so cliche to me. Instead I turn to HEL LOOKS, a fashion blog run out of Finland's capital city Helsinki. The scandinavian version of The Satorialist, HEL LOOKS captures the aesthetically gifted population of Finland and their wonderful clothing choices. Riikka, Emilia, Heidi are all examples of the beautiful (both fashionably and physically) women posted at Hel Looks.

Live From New York...

This past Saturday night I was watching a repeat of SNL with Hugh Laurie and Yeezy. When watching Kanye perform "Love Lockdown" and a "Heartless/Pinochio Story" medley I started to think that this has been a banner year for musical guests. TV On The Radio, Adele, The Killers, Kings of Leon and, the band in this clip, Fleet Foxes. Being the musical director at SNL would be a dream job for me and probably any music fan. I'm hoping that the season finale with host Tracey Morgan will bring out a real hip-hop great like Ghostface.

That Guy...

Alexander Ovechkin

The 2004 1st overall draft pick Alexander Ovechkin (pictured above with, what could only be, a Russian super-model) is what hockey needed after years of players without personality or character. Constantly joking in broken english, exploding into celebrations and filling his trophy room Ovie is a perfect poster-boy. Sidney Crosby is definitely skilled, I'll give him that, but has as much personality as a piece of cardboard. This season Ovechkin has already tallied 77 points (43 goals and 34 assists) in 58 games making him That (Hockey) Guy...

Supreme Spring/Summer 09 Highlights

Supreme are giants of industry in world of streetwear. They recently released a preview of their Spring/Summer 2009 line and cemented that giant status. Items range from athletic department styled tank-tops (above), outdoor wear, baggage, swiss army knives and even incense. With line-ups like these Supreme offers a lifestyle rather than just a clothing brand. Check out my personal favourites bellow.

Funny People Trailer

As you may have guessed, I have a little man-crush on Seth Rogen and am not scared to show it. It seems to me that this movie is a case where art is imitating life. Both in the movie and real life Adam Sandler is passing the torch to Rogen, Hollywood's new leading comedic man. Boasting an all-star cast (Eric Bana, Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman to name a few) this dramedy will be in theaters on July 31st.

Are You A Five Percenter?

The chart above is the equivalent to the Bible/Qur'an/Torah in the world of ZachMorrisism. Created by Elitaste's Daniel Weisman this pyramid describes how many trends grow. Divided into 4 phases, each with a corresponding population percentage, you can apply this to many of todays fads. Where do you fit in here? Are you a stylish, truly unique tastemaker? Or a mall shopping, run-of-the-mill follower? Do you listen to local, relative unknowns? Or keep to top 40 radio?

New Comme Des Garcons At Nomad

In a recent interview with Complex magazine, current buzz rapper, Drake (who I once met at Poison, my old Bape connect in Kensington) was asked about where he shops and what he wears. The answers; Nomad and Comme De Garcon's respectively. This new drop of product isn't anything new from Comme, but just enough to keep me hooked. The simple design of theses pieces are what makes this collection so valuable in a world of flashy all over print sweaters and meaningless graphic tees. I especially love the trenchcoats above, the totally break my pre-conceived notion of what a trenchcoat is (bulky, ill-placed pockets and over sized collars). This stuff ranges from $125 to $675, which is way past my price-point but I can dream.

Ignorance Is Biz

When many people think of Biz Markie they quickly think of his poorly sung 80's ballad about how the love of his life left him scorn, "Just A Friend". Sadly until recently I was one of these people. I had seen "The Vapors" on MuchMusic once or twice but couldn't tell you any details or recite any lyrics. After seeing Biz on Yo Gabba Gabba! I did some YouTube research and watched as many of his videos as I could. Biz's flow is obscurely creative and absurdly comical and this translated perfectly through his videos. The videos for "T.S.R." and "It's Spring Again" are great examples of this...

"T.S.R. (Toilet Stool Rap)"

"It's Spring Again"

"T.S.R" is crude at best and I don't usually like potty humour but Biz Markie made me giggle with this one. Who hasn't been there? Sitting on the toilet, singing a song, humming a tune, tapping your feet. As for the video for "It's Spring Again" there is nothing not to like. With his golf course hoes and hilariously crooned hook Biz makes me long for winter's demise. Unlike many one-hit-wonders, Biz has much more under his belt than a brief flirtation with the spotlight.

Big Tune, Big Sean

Initially appearing on Big Sean's "Finally Famous - The Mixtape" as a snippet, the track "Million Dollars" showcases this Detroit natives true talents. Recently released to the internet listening public as a full track with some modifications (including that hypnotizing bridge at the end of the song) "Million Dollars" paints the perfect picture of what Sean's life up to this point in an almost child-like manner.

Check out "Million Dollars" here.

That Guy...

SO_ME

With a resume that includes fashion, art and music videos; french born SO_ME is "Ce Gars...". Most notably working on Kanye West's "Goodlife" video, he has also directed videos for Justice and KiD CuDi. Doing the majority of designing for record label Ed Banger Records and contributing to Japanese brand Revolver SO_ME keeps himself busy. Last year some of his work was displayed at The Lazy Dog in Paris in a show named "Blinded By The Light". Check out some of his work bellow.

Eventually I had to do it.

My Ongoing Battle With A Fitted Addiction

The people over at ECap City never fail to impress. If they sold custom orthotics I bet they still would have a dope rating of 9.9. Click the image to get a detailed view.

"I guarantee you won't like it here."

ZachMorrisism Favorite of the Year, "The Death of Adam" is picking up some speed and now "The Friends Zone" is being released as a single. This track featuring Shitake Monkey is a perfect example of the experimentation 88 displays on "...Adam". Including 4 versions of the song (the original, a remix, an a cappella, the of course the "clean" version) this single will be available on i-Tunes and at your local record store. The post on 88-Keys blog also mentions that a video for "Friends Zone" has been shot and will make sense of this cover. The music video may make it's triumphant return this year.

Day N' Nite - KiD CuDi (Video)

The amount of time I have waited for this video is obscene and yet it doesn't disappoint. This has been a big week for G.O.O.D Music videos; both of which have been epic. The animation techniques used in this video is somewhat reminiscent of Kanye's "Heartless" video but with a twist worthy of KiD Cudi. Going to go watch this clip a few more times.

"The Long Way Home" KAWS Exhibit Highlights

Pop art that makes your brain pop. Making his west coast art circuit debut KAWS comes with a full line-up of pieces that people can instantly connect with. Being displayed at Honor Fraser, in Los Angeles, a gallery that "specializes in emerging and mid-career artists both local and foreign in various media." I'd love to Kanye-ize my room with some of his work, but for now I'll settle for my photos, Rat Pack poster, and stickers.

With ALL of the profits of these kicks going to the foundation the Global Fund, Livestock has certainly set a new standard for streetwear philanthropy.
