Wal-Mart, Always Low Class. Always.

People of Wal-Mart is a fairly new site which encourages it's readers to send in pictures of what they have deemed as "Wal-Creatures". Each day I go on and get my daily fill of clothes that don't fit or barely exist, cars decorated with toys, animal parts and even dollar bills. If your looking for a laugh at someone else's expense, the people at People of Wal-Mart have it.

Little Big League

If your a sports fanatic like myself you probably find yourself on ESPN.com and other sporting websites once, twice, fifteen times a day. Reading about what basketball players have done over the summer, your fantasy teams downfalls and other fluff articles. One of these articles really caught my eye the other day. It was on creating a long-term survival plan for the NHL through contraction or re-alignment. Pierre Le Brun, a highly regarded NHL analyst, went the way of many others and brought up the argument for having a European expansion. Barry Melrose, a one time player, coach, and now analyst suggested swapping a few teams in warmer markets for "real" hockey cities. The one plan that really struck a note with me was John Buccigross'. He opted to add many more teams "with smaller arenas in some of the new markets (12,000-15,000), with an aggressive shared-revenue system". With Buccigross' plan the league would exploit their already established hockey hot spots (ie; Toronto and Minnesota) and move into many other cities where the game is flourishing in the minor levels. Hockey needs more progressive minds like Buccigross in their head offices rather than that man-troll Gary Bettman.

Kid Sistour

Having disappeared from the hip-hop scene since her breakout track "Pro-Nails" with Kanye West, Kid Sister is finally emerging from the studio with an album. Initially she had an album ready called Dream Date but didn't feel like it represented her properly and was a product of the label rushing her. The new album, Ultraviolet, will be released on November 17th and features A-Trak, Estelle and Cee-Lo. Along with the album Kid Sister will also be embarking on a North American tour with with Flosstradamus beginning October 19th and ending in Toronto on the 28th of November.

Been There Done That

It's official Bape has made everything under the sun. Stuffed animals, carabiners, bath mats, coffee mugs and tons of useless items have been spewed out of the Bathing Ape factory in the past two years. Now Bape sub-brand Baby Milo is bringing you earbuds adorned with Baby Milo's face and well...thats pretty much it. They just play your music and have a face on them. That's it.

Collectable Crafts

Cubeecraft is the perfect hobby for those with limited finances. There are hundreds of designs on their website, all completely free. All you need is a sheet of standard printer paper and a pair of scissors because these toys are completely adhesive free. Download your Cubeecrafts at their website and show origami, so pretentious, that it's not the paper folding art out there.

Can't Believe I Missed This

In early August, Mishka and ZachMorrisism Favourites Ninjasonik dropped A mixtape. And because I was without the ever-informing presence of the internet I heard nothing about it until today! On this tape the group strives to become a legitimate hip hop act with MC Teli taking the reigns as his alter ego Darth Bano. This collaboration between brand and artist gives the listener a view into the sub-culture that both parties are so prominent in. A cast of artists including Theophilus London, Blaqstarr, Hollywood Holt and Spank Rock all come out to support Ninjasonik. Check out the video for the single "Hold The Line (Produced by Major Lazer)" bellow and download "Mishka Presents: Ninjasonik - Darth Bano" here.

Two Branch Ring

New York based jewelry designers Good Wood are responsible for my latest session of internet window shopping. Their two-finger rings, currently being sold at Krudmart, come in numerous designs and are a funny twist on an eighties classic. Good Wood was created by illustrator Keri O'Connell who handcrafts each piece herself. You can also put in a custom order at their website.

Macho Man - Dig It (Video)

What can I say about this video? Well I actually formulated a list;
1) Why does the choir pronounce it mah-cho when it's obviously pronounced maw-cho?
2) I didn't expect Randy Savage's verses to be so sensitive and filled with love for the common man.
3) Where can I get a neon-tasseled leather suit with matching sunglass/hat combo?
4) He DOES get my heart a-pumpin' and the party jumpin'.
5) Watching videos of the present-day Macho Man after this video is not a good idea.

Urkel-Os

I really wish everyone still got a cereal with their fifteen minutes of fame.

Mick Boogie / Peter Bjorn & John - Stay This Way (Video)

I think my old Nintendo is directing music videos. This track is off the Mick Boogie remix of Peter Bjorn & John's album "Living Thing". Artists like Mickey Factz, GZA, Rhymefest and Wale are featured on the album. Each MC putting their twist on PB&J's haunting pop songs. Download "Mick Boogie & PBJ: Re-Living Thing" here.

F#*k Digital!

The ultimate "fuck you" to the move to digital cameras, these film canister cameras are cooler than cool. Ice cold! The controls are located on the side and the film is also manually turned by a wheel on the top of the lid. No screen. No memory card. No-stalgia!

Supreme Fall/Winter 2009

When looking over Supreme's Fall/Winter 2009 product drop I wasn't too impressed with the Fall but really like some of the Winter pieces. The Fall was made up of stereotypical Supreme t-shirts and even a Mickey Mouse tee, which everyone has been doing for what seems to be a year or two now. The Winter has tons of touques in great colour combos and pieces I could see myself wearing. I particularly like the backpacks (above) that come in the basic Supreme colour palette and have tons of little details.

Leroy Smith "My Gift To The Game" (Video)

I'll be the first to say I counted Charlie Murphy out as a one trick pony after his Chapelle Show success. But his Leroy Smith character has been the laughter I needed after a week of being ill. And not that gold chain, fresh Nikes and beeper ill. This song is not only funny but surprisingly catchy. Shazam!

Can't Judge A CD By It's Cover

Or can you? I do like the concept for Wale's album cover but I don't feel it encapsulates who he is. It seems like something any other artist would do. And well, I don't feel like he's "any other artist". On the other hand I am in love with Cudi's cover. Once again he has gone against the conventional and ended up with something gorgeous. These two have been constantly compared and I don't think it will stop until the albums drop.

Sibling Love

Thanks Nat.

R.I.Peter's

Since I can remember my family has gone to Peter's Chun King in Toronto's Chinatown area. When my sister and I were children, my mother would take us there almost every weekend. As a family we introduced it to friends, girlfriends and boyfriends, and other family members. I found out today it no longer exists. No longer can I savour their szechuan shredded beef. No longer can I devour their Cashew Chicken without regard for those around me. No longer can I sit and stare at it's awkwardly placed "Wall of Money" or autographed picture of Chris De Burgh (famous for his 80's love ballad "Lady in Red"). It's surreal to lose a part of your childhood like this. I understand that things change. Peter's wasn't supposed to.
