A Brief History Lesson

When I first discovered the streetwear scene it was 2006 and I had fallen in love with the purple camouflage sweaters that Pharrell had been wearing in music videos. Upon finding out about Bape, I wanted to know more about the culture. At first I thought it was mostly made up of larger brands like LRG, Famous Stars and Straps and many other skateboard companies. Then I started checking out Original Fake, The Hundreds, Mighty Healthy through links I would find on e-bay or Google searches . Seeing all these designers putting their ideas to paper and then onto t-shirts inspired me. So I decided to start making my own designs. Lacking any artistic talent I relied heavily on the Windows "Paint" program and Google images. Naming the brand P&PT (Pinestripes & Polo Tees) I was ready to go...

The first design I did was a play on the Louis Vuitton print that was incredibly popular at that time. I wanted something that was popular enough in the main culture but I could sell to the sub-culture...

Taking cues from brands I loved, I was heavily influenced by music and pop culture. This is apparent in these two designs...

Then one day I was reading the classic novel "William Tell" and two words struck me and echoed in my head; "Crimson Apple". I started working on a design that would capture the feeling that those words evoked in me. This is what I came up with...

I was never too confident with these designs so nothing ever happened with P&PT. But once again I have caught the designing bug and this time I have an artist to help bring out my vision. My wonderful girlfriend Erin. Here's a sample of The CRIMSON Apple Co., hopefully launching in 2009.
